| | Wow. It's been two years.
We have released Head Banger, a rhythm-based music game for your PC and Xbox 360 using Microsoft's new XNA framework. Check out the product page for more details...
| | Time flies when you're gassy and irritable.
Well, we have some good news, some bad news, and some indifferent news.
Good news:
- We've started developing some multiplayer games for the Danger Sidekick. It's a fantastically wonderful cell phone and you should run out and buy one immediately.
- If you haven't already, go support Cryptic Allusion and buy a copy of Feet of Fury. It's the spiffiest Dreamcast homebrew you'll see until ours. ;)
Bad news: We've taken a break from our Dreamcast work. Our previously hinted at title, Project CMR, has been shelved for the time being. Please note that this does NOT mean the project is dead. It however does mean you will not see it for a while in any form.
Indifferent news: I like pie.
| | It's been a while. :)
DC Tonic downloads are now being hosted at sourceforge.net. No more waiting for me to remember to rotate .RAR files. The images in DiscJuggler and Nero format are both available as a full download.
In other news, we are actively working on two projects for the Dreamcast, though neither has an official release date. Without giving too much away, one is a Dreamcast version of an old-school multi-arcade-game emulator you may remember from the late 90's (the emulator, not the games it emulates), and the other, bigger project is a brand-new, original game.
And finally, for those that were waiting for it, our originally planned title, Marbol, has been officially cancelled for the Dreamcast. We may revisit the game later on another platform, but for right now it is dead and buried. Besides, our new game is far cooler.
| | Time for an update and a request:
Update: We will be releasing a new version of SarienDC soon. Unfortunately we don't have a specific date due to real world pressures, but it will be soon. Among other improvements, the most notable will be save game support.
Request: After Sarien wraps up, we will start work on a brand-new, original game. In order to accomplish our goal, we are looking for artists experienced in both 2D and 3D. If anyone out there has any experience doing high-quality art and animation and would like to be a part of this project, please contact us.
| | DC Tonic downloads are back. We have split the DiscJuggler and Nero archives down into 5 20MB RAR files. I will rotate through parts every few days. Both the DiscJuggler and Nero version of each part will be up simultaneously. To see which part is currently available, just go to the download page for DC Tonic and take a look. | |
| | We had to remove the DC Tonic downloads due to our ISP requiring us to reduce our disk space usage. If anyone has the ability to host the 2 80MB downloads, please contact me. | |
| | We were down for a day due to server issues (bad hard drive and some bad RAM). Anyway, we're back up now and ready to celebrate New Year's Eve. Happy New Year everyone!! | |
| | Just wanted to wish everyone happy holidays and let you all know we're all still alive, just extremely busy with real life and real jobs. We will hopefully have some news after the first of the year. Until then... | |
| | We have opened a new FAQ section. We continually are asked the same questions on some of our products so we compiled them into a list of Frequently Asked Questions based on product. You can find this new section of our site under the Support menu option. There are only a few questions answered so far, but we will continually update this section with answers to common problems.
SarienDC is still an active project. We are working on save support but are waiting both for KOS to become a bit more stable in that department, as well as Sarien itself to become a bit more stable. Some of the Sarien developers are working on some new saving code. When things are working a bit more smoothly in those departments we will have a new version for everyone. There may be a version in between to clean up a few fixes, but that has not been finalized as of yet.
| | It's here! Our surprise release is SarienDC! It's a port of Sarien, a Sierra AGI interpreter for the Sega Dreamcast. This allows you to play classic Sierra On-Line games like Leisure Suit Larry and Space Quest on your Dreamcast. Go try it out! | |
| | It has been an amazingly rough week for all of us. We are located in upstate New York, about 150 miles (240 kilometers) from "ground zero", so it hit pretty close to home for us. Luckily, all of our friends are safe and sound at the moment. We hope all of your loved ones are safe also. If not, know that our hearts and thoughts are with you.
In light of the recent events, our surprise release has been delayed a bit more. None of us have felt much like working recently so we took a bit of a break. We hope to resume things this week and have a release this week.
We've also redone our website a bit. Please take the time to click through the banner at the top of your browser and learn how to donate time/blood/money to help. You'll also notice a new "Staff" section on the menu that contains some info about all of us.
That's about it for now. We all need to start moving on with our lives and not lose what the terrorists wanted to take from us. We will survive and we will make it through this terrible time.
| | Well, we have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that our surprise release is going to be delayed for a few days due to some unexpected difficulties. The good news is that these difficulties resulted in a bug fix to KOS as well as some additional features for the release. So, if you haven't already, subscribe to our mailing list to be notified the instant our newest title is released! | |
| | It has been a while, but we have a surprise Dreamcast release coming sometime this week. Keep checking our website or subscribe to our mailing list and be the first to hear about our next exciting title! | |
| | We have created an official Ganksoft Entertainment mailing list which you can all subscribe to. This list will be used for mailing out any announcements we may have regarding our latest creations. Subscribe today and keep up on what we have planned for the future! You'll get the scoop before anyone else does... | |
| | Not especially noteworthy, but there are some new products available for purchase at the Ganksoft store. Now you can purchase hats, a tote bag and even boxer shorts emblazoned with our logo. Show your support for Ganksoft and pick something up! Anything you buy helps support our development...and we have some exciting news on that shortly. | |
| | Just wanted to let everyone know that we all are still alive and working on games. Expect some news from us shortly. In the meantime, be sure to check out Brian's interview conducted by the good people at Boob!. | |
| | We have added a new poll regarding the DC Tonic CD. Please take a few seconds to tell us what you think of it. | |
| | The DC Tonic images are finally up. For those of you that don't know, this is a CD that was created by Cryptic Allusion, us, and several other developers in the Dreamcast community for distribution at E3. It contains a variety of demos, intros and other programs for you to enjoy. I must thank TheGypsy from Boob! for allowing me to use the images he previously created. This is being provided in two formats: DiscJuggler and Nero. Download size is approximately 83 MB so be prepared for a long download. The official CD label can also be downloaded. If you are interested in seeing our demo only from the DC Tonic CD, we will have much smaller disc images ready for that shortly. | |
| | We have returned from E3. By now I'm sure you have all heard of the compiliation demo CD that us hobbyist Dreamcast developers were giving away at the show. If you haven't, we will have some images up this week that you can download and try for yourself. On the CD you will find a preview of the game we're working on now. It's an original puzzle game titled Marbol for the Dreamcast. More details and those CD images to follow later this week. | |
| | We are featured again in the June 2001 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine! While the actual Ganksoft name isn't mentioned, our names, and NeoPocott DC appear in the article. Be sure to pick up the June issue and flip to page 38 for more information on the homebrew Dreamcast development community! | |
| | Today we have released a new version of IP Upload bringing it to version 1.2. In this version we have added a new screen layout, a simple "screen shot" feature, and some more bug fixes. | |
| | We are featured in the May 2001 issue of Expert Gamer! In this issue, they have done an article on the Sega Dreamcast and how, even though it has been officially cancelled by Sega, there are still plenty of great games to play. On page 100 you will find a listing of a few homebrew Dreamcast titles with our NeoPocott DC being featured. Go out and buy a copy today! | |
| | A few tweaks have been made to the new site. This should hopefully clear up some of the problems that have been reported. If you see anything wrong with the site, please contact us so that we can correct it! | |
| | We have a new web site! Head over to the Polls section and let us know what you think! | |
| | Another maintenance release of DreamPac has been made. This is version 1.0b. This version, again, is
only applicable to the "individual files" archive and not the pre-made images. No code has changed in the DreamPac program, but a bug was fixed
in KOS, the free development kit by Dan Potter, that fixes the problem of burning DreamPac with CDRWin. A self-boot disc made with the CDRWin method should
now work with this version.
| | A maintenance release of DreamPac has been made. This is version 1.0a. This version is
only applicable to the "individual files" archive and not the pre-made images. No code has changed in the DreamPac program, but a bug was fixed
in KOS, the free development kit by Dan Potter, that fixes the problem of DreamPac locking up at a black screen after choosing a game to play from
the menu. This bug would only affect those creating their own self-boot CDs with the "individual files" archive. So, if you were having this
problem, please download the new version to correct the problem. Special thanks go to Boris and Manny Sabatel
for burning and testing interim builds while we tracked down the KOS bug.
| | Official jewel case inserts for DreamPac are now available. | |
| | The rest of the new DreamPac screenshots are up. Again, these are "pixel perfect" shots
directly from the Dreamcast's internal video RAM.
| | We are in the process of replacing the terrible DreamPac screenshots.
We wrote up some screen capture code for our products that will give us a direct screen dump directly from the interal Dreamcast video RAM.
This means pixel perfect screen shots from now on! If time permits, we'll incorporate this into NeoPocott DC
to generate some better screenshots there also.
| | Added a new question to the survey page. Let us know what you think of DreamPac!
Well, the surprise release was delayed a bit due to time constraints. It is now up. And what is it?
DreamPac was released today. It is a Pacman emulator for the Sega Dreamcast. Click through for more information!
| | Another question has been added to the survey page. Please be sure to take the time to answer our latest questions! | |
| | We've added an Amazon.com "PayPage" link to our site. If you enjoy our software and would like to help support our development, please feel free to help us out.
It is certainly not required and our games will always be free, however any money that we receive will go toward buying better tools and software so that we can create
even better games. Thanks!
Added a new survey question. Please take the time to respond!
| | A new version of IP Upload was release today that fixes a few bugs and adds a few new features. Read the
docs to see what's new. | |
| | It appears that there is a pirate Dreamcast group claiming they have a PS2 emulator released by Ganksoft Entertianment with a note to visit this page for more
information. This is, of course, very, very fake. We have no PS2 emulator. We're not writing a PS2 emulator. We never will write a PS2 emulator.
It would be impossible to write a PS2 emulator for the Dreamcast and have it run at a reasonable speed. Just wanted to clear the air...
| | David Wallimann joins us today as the Lead Musician here at Ganksoft Entertainment. He will be providing music for our
upcoming Dreamcast game as well as other projects we have in the works. Welcome aboard, David!
| | Added a new Development Tools section under Products. The first and only item there at the moment is a Windows uploader for the
IP slave called IP Upload.
| | We're back online after a server upgrade. | |
| | We added a brand new Survey section to the site. Please stop by and give us your valuable feedback. | |
| | Happy New Year! We have posted a new DiscJuggler image for NeoPocott DC on the download page. Please download and try burning this one
if you were having problems burning the one we originally posted. We're working on a new Nero image also.
| | Our website should now be looking and working much better for Netscape users. If you still see additional problems, please contact us. | |
| | Added a disc image for CDRWIN users to the download page.
An IP.BIN file has been added to the "Individual Files" download for those wanting to make their own self-boot disc. It is also available as a separate download if you have already downloaded the previous archive.
NeoPocott DC has been released! Head to the download page to get a copy for yourself!
